OPADEN™

Nitrate Removal by Ion Exchange Resin Technology

The Opaden compact unit removes nitrates to produce potable water for small size cities

Overview

With decades of experience in potable water treatment solutions, Veolia is the key partner of Municipalities and Industries to develop and implement the most reliable water treatment systems, providing an extensive range of technologies and services.

We supply a large range of skid-mounted systems for drinking water treatment meeting the World Health Organization's (W.H.O) recommendations.

  • A range of 8 standardized units producing from 10 to 150 m3/h
  • Proven technology using ion exchange resin
  • Upflow counter-current resin regeneration process
  • Flexible, treats different flows and nitrate concentrations
  • Compact design, skid-mounted unit, reduces construction costs
  • Guarantees a high quality potable water: Nitrate < 50 mg/L in compliance with the W.H.O. recommendations
  • Constitutes a reliable and safe solution for drinking water
  • Certified ACS French Health Compliance
  • Short lead-time, quick installation and commissioning

Features & Benefits

OPADEN™ constitutes a large range of skid-mounted systems for drinking water treatment, in compliance with the W.H.O recommendations.

Certified ACS, The OPADEN™ units use well-known and efficient technologies to produce high quality drinking water: ion exchange resin, counter-current upflow regeneration.

  • Complete treatment line including all necessary equipment and reagents
  • A range of 8 standardized units producing from 10 to 150 m3/h
  • Modular systems which can be combined to treat larger volumes
  • Proven technology using ion exchange resin
  • Easy to operate, remote control device
  • Skid-mounted systems which can be easily integrated into concrete plants
  • Cost effective solution, pre-assembled in our workshops allowing a short delivery time and fast commissioning
  • Flexible, can be adapted to raw water characteristics, nitrate concentration, and to the treated water quality to obtain.

Applications

The Opaden standard product range can treat from 10 up to 130 m3/h per unit

Flexible and modular, they may be configured for higher flow-rates and water qualities.

The OPADEN™ standard unit includes one or several skid-mounted ion exchangers fitted with their respective pipe work, valving, feed pump and accessories, electrical control cabinet and brine preparation tank.

A proportion of untreated water by-passes the unit as drinking water is obtained by blending. Supplementary pumping makes for the pressure drop through the nitrate removal line. The exchange capacity of the resins is restored by reverse flow of saturated brine. Operation is fully-automated, either "duplex", i. e. one duty / one standby, or "triplex", two duty / one standby. Two versions are proposed according to feed and output pressure requirements: a reinforced resin version (6 bars) and a steel version (10 bars).

  • Stainless steel panoply
  • Electrical or pneumatic valves
  • Specific adapted ion-exchange resin for eliminating nitrates
  • Brine silo
  • Dissolution panoply
  • Prefabricated modular building to be placed on a concrete slab
  • Component stabilization system
  • Rebalancing system
  • Operating pressure from 0 to 16 bars
  • Several options available: the unit may be housed in a heated container to make it frost-proof. Contin
